POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Communications Coordinator leads communications, outreach, and engagement efforts in Blumont’s Jordan Country Office. This position requires a high degree of organization with the ability to balance a range of activities while engaging with colleagues across departments, countries, and at all levels of the organization. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABLITY

 

General responsibilities and Duties:

  • Under the supervision of the Country Director, and in close coordination with the Communications Director at Blumont HQ, the Communication Coordinator monitors, manages, and evaluates Blumont Jordan communication strategy as assigned;
  • With guidance from the Country Director, takes the lead on all communication for Blumont portfolio of projects;
  • Liaises with Commutations Teams at Blumont HQ on all projects communication issues;

 

Communications responsibilities

  • Oversee internal and external communications for Blumont Jordan. This includes implementing communication strategies, managing social media activities and public relations, and ensuring that all messaging is consistent and effective.
  • Working closely with Project Directors/Managers within the organization to understand their communication needs and develop strategies to meet those needs.
  • Collaborate with external partners, such as media outlets and donors, to ensure that the organization is well represented in all communication channels.
  • Collaborate with MEAL Team to develop communications products informed by program data
  • Work with field teams to identify, collect, develop, and edit communication materials (success stories, social media posts, videos,…)  highlighting program progress
  • Collaborate with production companies and HQ Communication Team to create content for Blumont social media platforms and website.
  • Identify opportunities to use communications to advance project objectives
  • Manage all Blumont Jordan events and major activities such as signing and graduation ceremonies, project launch and completion as well as any other event deemed necessary for Blumont’s visibility.
  • Conduct quality control on all communications and ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards
  • Work closely with Communication Team counterparts at donor organizations and/or partners to ensure alignment with their respective brand standards.
  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos
  • Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications (in coordination with Blumont Communications Director)
  • Develop escalation protocols for managing communication crises, should they arise, in coordination with Blumont Communications Director
  • When needed, manage staff by planning and managing the design, content, and production of all marketing materials.

 

Projects Reporting:

  • Revises assigned projects deliverables including weekly, monthly, and annual reports to ensure the highest of standards in terms of quality and analysis are delivered to donors and Blumont HQ.
  • Develop, write, and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, speeches, blog posts, and social media content in coordination with the Blumont HQ  communications team, for publication on Blumont’s digital channels

 

Other Related Duties

  • Coach, train, supervise, and mentor direct reports when available, including communicating clear expectations, setting annual performance objectives, providing regular and timely positive and constructive performance feedback, and providing documented semi-annual performance reviews. Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards;
  • Lead and manage by motivating employees to remain optimistic even when faced with challenges and encouraging good performance and Blumont’s values;
  • Travels as necessary to oversee the program’s implementation; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Country Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A university degree in a relevant field: communications, information management, journalism, international development, non-profit management; Master’s degree preferred

 

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • 5+ years of directly relevant professional experience, preferably in international development or related field
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; an ability to translate, organize, and present ideas in a concise and logical format including proven ability to summarize lengthy and complex information into short and simple language.
  • A proven self-motivated individual capable of working with diverse teams of both national and international staff as well as local government authorities, UN agencies, I/NGOs and other partners
  • Knowledge of creative tools such as Canva, Adobe Premier Pro, etc.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office applications; strong familiarity with social media platforms; comfort with additional technology platforms.
