Port Captain – Marine Construction

Position Summary:

The Port Captain is responsible for the operational management, coordination, and oversight of marine vessels and equipment supporting construction activities such as dredging, reclamation, breakwater installation, and jetting. The role ensures compliance with project requirements, marine safety regulations, and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the client on daily basis for the vessels movement and operations
  • Supervise daily operations of project-related marine fleet including dredgers, barges, tugs, multicats, and workboats.
  • Coordinate vessel movements to support construction activities (e.g., spoil transport, rock placement, pipe laying).
  • Ensure all marine activities comply with local maritime laws, HSE standards, and company procedures.
  • Liaise with marine crews, project engineers, and site management to align operations with construction schedules.
  • Plan and execute marine logistics related to material transport, anchorage, mooring, and offshore works.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of vessels to ensure seaworthiness and readiness.
  • Assist in the review and approval of marine method statements and risk assessments.
  • Oversee crew management, certification compliance, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate with port authorities and regulatory bodies for marine permits and navigation safety.
  • Monitor weather and sea conditions to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance planning and coordination with technical teams for marine assets.
