As a ULS Knowledge Associate you will support research and regulatory analysis focused on chemicals and materials used in the automotive and electronics industries, including requirements for batteries and other components as mandated by relevant regulations and standards globally This role will contribute to Global Market Access (GMA) knowledge services by providing insights on compliance for chemicals and materials used in ordinary locations, ensuring adherence to global standards and emerging sustainability and circularity requirements. You will collaborate with internal teams and industry stakeholders to deliver high-quality research and customized solutions for materials, and automotive and electronics manufacturers and suppliers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build foundational expertise in regulatory compliance for chemicals and materials, supporting automotive and electronics industries in meeting global regulatory and sustainability requirements. Working under guidance, you will assist in identifying applicable regulations, contributing to research deliverables, and supporting compliance-related activities, including requirements related to transport of dangerous goods and material standards. As part of your new role you will:

• Research and analyze applicable regulations, compliance obligations, and industry-specific requirements affecting market access for automotive and electronic chemicals and materials, including safe transport requirements for dangerous goods such as batteries.
• Monitor emerging global requirements and manage documentation within regulatory databases.
• Support interpretation of regulations and prepare executive summary reports on regulatory changes and their impact on customers and business.
• Under general supervision and guidance, act as a point of contact with internal teams and industry stakeholders to obtain and maintain knowledge of chemicals and materials regulations and sustainability trends.
• Contribute to identifying new business opportunities by delivering high-quality research and customized solutions that ensure adherence to global standards and circularity principles

Provide comprehensive and research reports based on the required regulatory information

Provide point-of-access support to address any local acceptance issues under supervision and guidance

Coordinate research/studies including multiple products, regulations, countries under supervision and guidance

May act as owner of certain geographic areas or regulations under supervision and guidance

Cooperate with industries and colleagues to support development GMA knowledge services and customized solutions

Supports actions related to GMA business expansion scope, track opportunity and business results

May supervise the day-to-day delivery of high-quality knowledge services under supervision and guidance

Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices

Perform other duties as directed

Maintain expertise and provide guidance on:

• Chemicals and mixtures regulatory requirements, including CLP, REACH, GHS principles, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and related global or REACH-like frameworks
• Electronics and Automotive chemical and sustainability requirements (e.g., RoHS, ELV, Batteries, etc.)

Desired Candidate Profile

High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1-2 years of related experience, ideally in:

• Chemical regulatory affairs
• Product stewardship
• Automotive or electronics compliance
• Regulatory research or consulting

Strong knowledge of chemicals and materials compliance requirements (CLP, REACH, TSCA, Prop 65, PFAS, BPR, etc.)

Familiarity with automotive and electronics regulations (RoHS, ELV, WEEE, Battery Regulation and requirements, Ecodesign, IMDS)

Knowledge of key regulatory requirements applicable to materials across different applications, including automotive and electronics, and/or consumer products requirements, including food contact materials, general merchandise, detergents or others, is considered a plus

Excellent analytical and research skills

Proficiency in English (mandatory) Additional languages are considered a plus

Bachelor s degree in Engineering, International Relations, or other specialization based on the specific coverage, is a plus
