Role summary:


  • Responsible for Couplers System and Product design for Indian Railways and Metro applications. The role involves managing a team that works on Project Engineering, Tender Engineering, Application Engineering, Product Management, Validation & Commissioning and Warranty Support.
  • Need to demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. He/ She will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy for the Couplers product line
  • Act as a key technical advisor and product advocate responsible for actively driving and managing the technology and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues. Needs to establish and maintain strong relationship/ rapport with Internal stakeholders and customers.

Responsibilities


Essential responsibilities:


  • Provide technical and people leadership for Couplers Engineering team.
  • Provide operational & Execution excellence to the team through effort estimation, budgeting, staffing, spend analysis, resource deployment, project planning, risk mitigation and timely communication at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead the employee performance management through goal setting, timely feedback, development plan, etc., Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning.
  • Develop a strong Couplers engineering team with technical expertise in functional areas by driving innovation, execution excellence and process adherence to Wabtec and international standards/practices.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams, Cross functional teams, product management team, and downstream operations and support teams to ensure on-time execution with on-target quality and cost of programs.
  • Cultivate a progressive mindset to learn, contribute and achieve. Empower and Enable team resources.
  • Actively promote and uphold ethics and compliance to core values and adherence to standards, systems and processes.
  • Conduct robust design and project reviews, DFMECA and Reliability studies.
  • Work closely with Sourcing and Supply Chain teams to ensure strategic partner selection.

Required Candidate Profile


Education/Training


  • What education and education level are necessary for the position?

Masters/Bachelors in Structural /Mechanical Engineering


Professional Experience


  • How many years of professional experience in a specific professional area are required for the position?

10+ years Overall Experience


6+ years in Couplers Engineering (Preferrable)


Experience in Coupler Systems design and validation (numerical and physical) of mechanical components


Experience in the railway industry or comparable industry with high safety requirements.


Product Knowledge: Conceptual layout, detailed design and validation of coupler heads, buff and draw gears, Energy absorption elements (reversible and irreversible)
