Role Purpose



This role is focused on delivering a rewarding and engaging English language learning experience that meets the needs of diverse learners. You’ll ensure high-quality teaching and effective learning that supports student progress and success. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to the British Council’s wider mission of fostering cultural relations and building connections through education.




Main Accountabilities:



Teaching Delivery
Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that cater to diverse learner needs and styles, ensuring alignment with British Council Global Teaching Standards. Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback, and promote learner autonomy. Stay committed to professional development and performance management to uphold excellence in teaching and learning.



Centre Engagement
Support the teaching centre’s activities and contribute to course development and improvement through active collaboration with the team. Participate in staff meetings, assist with marketing and customer service efforts, and complete administrative tasks to a high standard. Reflect British Council values and behaviours in all aspects of your work.



Customer Relations & Compliance
Build strong relationships with students and colleagues, helping learners engage with UK culture and values through classroom and extracurricular activities. Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, data protection, health and safety, and EDI policies. Embed inclusive practices in lesson planning and delivery to support a safe and welcoming learning environment for all.




Qualifications & Experience



Essentials:



  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity cert TESOL (global minimum standard)
  • 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity cert TESOL experience
  • Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
  • Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
  • Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours)
  • Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours)
  • University/Vocational students aged 18 to 25 (400+hours)
  • Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)

Desirables:



  • Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA or Trinity Diploma
  • Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
  • Early Years aged 2 to 5 (400+hours)
